From: greg_lewis@csufresno.edu (Greg Lewis) To: bertino@netcom.com Subject: Re: Disneyland's Railroad Yes, you can ride in the cabs of two of the Disneyland engines. I have done so. I think #1 is one of those. The issue is that the engine must have a seat on the front bulkhead of the tender, which is where you will sit. You could hold a very small child, too. I rode around three times with the crew, had a nice chat about steam locos, and managed to distract the fireman enough that he forgot to turn down the injector and overfilled the boiler (not seriously, though...). Just aks the conductor for the cab ride if you see the jump seat on the tender. I don't know the names of the locos. Someone else will certainly fill you in on the two that were used when Disney bought them. Check the loco list posted in rec.railroad and you'dd find out which ones they were. As a parent chaperone with a high school marching band, I have been to Disneyland more times than I care about, so discovering the cab ride made the last visit great. They don't seem to care how long you sit there, unless, of course, someone else is waiting for the spot. ___________________________________________________________________ Greg_Lewis@csufresno.edu Photojournalism sequence, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism CSU Fresno, Fresno, CA 93740-0010 ======================================================================= Engines one and two are available for cab rides!!!!!
