From: Ed.Sterrett@animece.oau.org (Ed Sterrett) Date: 13 Oct 94 07:42:05 Subject: Tiny People EPCOT--A little science, a little magic, and a little weirdness all play big parts in "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience," opening in November at Epcot '94. Based on the enormously popular Walt Disney Pictures feature releases, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids and Honey, I Blew U~ The Kid, this high-tech, 3D misadventure continues the zany antics of scientist and inventor Professor Wayne Szalinski. Upon entering the attraction at the Kodak-sponsored Journey Into Imagination pavilion, Guests become part of the show, donning special 3D "safety goggles" as they enter the laboratory of the Imagination Institute. Making a phenomenal flying entrance I on his personal HoverPod, the reduced- to-a-football-sized Szalinski eagerly touts the virtues of his incredible "shrinking machine." The audience becomes a crowd cheering for the professor as the Institute tries to award him the coveted Inventor of the Year Award. The cheers turn to thrills, however, as the nutty professor inadvertently catches the audience in the cross-hairs of his powerful shrinking machine. A blinding flash and shower of sparks reveal the world to the audience, from a smaller viewpoint. Everyday things become seemingly more dangerous--a gigantic sneezing dog, a menacing giant python and a mountainous five-year-old child. "This attraction is the newest in Disney's line of unique 3-dimensional film experiences," said Senior Vice President of Theme Park Productions Tom Fitzgerald. "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience" builds on what we've learned in the past creating 'Magic Journeys,' 'Captain EO,' and 'muppet Vision 3D.' That means Walt Disney World Guests can expect an exciting new generation of film and in theater effects that will literally put them in the middle of the action! Following the advances in lifelike computer-generated animation sequences used in recent movies, show designers relied heavily on computers to create show effects. "We've come up with some footage that looks really incredible in 3D," said Executive Show Producer Rick Rothschild. "A lot of it couldn't have been done without the computer." In the spirit of scientific research, the result of this 20-minute experiment is top-secret. The fate of every tiny audience member rests in the hands of Professor Wayne Szalinski and the creative recesses of their own imaginations. . + Ed Sterrett R.A.D Host FDC Iago +.
